Don’t Let The Past Hold You Back

Trauma is what happens to us when we have been subjected to terrifying, painful and shocking experiences over which we have no control. 

Trauma that comes from childhood experiences of, for example, physical, sexual or emotional abuse, neglect, living with a parent who was an addict or mentally ill, can feel so embedded in us that we cannot imagine who we would be without those responses and behaviors.

Many of us live with a sense of something missing or a fear that something bad is going to happen. We may become fiercely independent and emotionally shut down or numb. We don't let anyone really get to know us and it is hard to trust anyone. Or we may feel extremely vulnerable and fragile and in a constant state of emotional overwhelm. We feel as if we need other people to take care of us and manage our lives.

Trauma and abuse can affect you on many levels, blocking you from the life you Desire.

   You May Find That You:

  • Relive traumatic memories

  • Struggle with intimate relationships

  • Have difficulty letting people really get to know you

  • Avoid or minimize your feelings

  • Get stuck in painful or difficult emotions

  • Have trouble sleeping

  • Suffer from anxiety and depression

  • Ignore your own needs

  • Experience life as chaotic and unmanageable

  • Battle addictions or eating disorders, including overeating

Everywhere you turn may remind you of the pain of your past.
